I’ve been working with Oxford City Council on Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival since 2016. It developed into a three day event kicked off with a lantern parade around the city centre and featuring light themed visual art installations located around the city. Cultural and community organisations join in with special events, exhibitions, workshops and performances in venues and on outdoor stages. In the year of the Covid pandemic the event was successfully held solely online. Since that year, the festival has spread across the city with individual events and activities taking place in community hubs.

My role is communications lead for the festival. I compile and prepare publicity materials for distribution around the local area. I also gather event information to publish on the festival website and support the festival social and digital campaign creating and scheduling content about events all over the city.

Press work involves sending releases to local, national and international media over various lead times and writing articles for publication in print and online outlets.
